CSR - The Landscape

Globally, CSR or Give-back can be estimated to be about 1 percent of the profits earned by the companies. While India is the first country to pass a law through an act of Parliament on CSR, it is a well established practice or tradition in most corporates in the developed markets including the US, Europe, Canada, Japan and other parts of the world. It is believed that CSR Act will be adopted by more and more countries over the next few years.

The CSR funds are predominantly directed to the SDG areas as identified by the UN. However, empirical data suggests that about two-thirds of the same gets deployed in Education and Health.
